Legend has it that the town gets its name from Railroad workers cleared the way for the Pacific Railroad and when they saw the perfectly level land they yelled, “Eureka!”. The town was founded and established in 1898, and it became home to Wyman Center which was originally the St. Louis Children’s Industrial Farm.
