Originally a land grant for the Spanish in 1791 it was later named due to the Jesuit mission established there. Throughout the 12th century the area was primarily a farming town and grew exponentially in the 80’s. St. Peters real estate market is strong with median home prices sitting around $220,000.00 USD with most of the homes being built in the 70’s and 80’s. As of the 2010 census the city has 52,575 people living there with the median age being 34 years old.
The combined tax rate of the area is %7.9. Some of the big employers in the area are the Air Force, Mastercard, and Washington University of St. Louis. People living in St. Peters often commute to St. Louis via Interstate 70 with a total travel time of 38 minutes one way.
St. Peters has some of the top rated schools in the area based off of several different measurements. Francis Howell School District is arguably the best in the area with 17 schools educating a little over 17,000 students. Take St. Peters Elementary school as an example. The student teacher ration is 11:1 making it a fantastic environment for kids to learn and develop.
